SSH Teaching 21+

Educational apps for university teacher

The main goal of the project is to improve and modernise tertiary education with regard to the competences relevant for life and practice in the 21st century. In order to achieve this goal, the project proposes as its main results an international handbook (guide) and e-learning materials for university teachers of Social Sciences and Humanities at Higher Education level reflecting current challenges along with real and exactly proven needs of the global labour market and the feedback from graduates and students.

The submitted e-learning platform was created as a support for university educators and its main objective is to accentuate modern trends in academic teaching in the field of humanities.

The purpose of creating e-learning platform is supported by research carried out by sociologists from AMU Poznań, among others. Current students are digitally literate and used to working in this way. It is therefore more than desirable to increase the skill of online work even among university educators; it is necessary to keep up with modern technologies.

„This publication is one of the results of the project "Enhancing Quality Teaching of Humanities and Social Sciences in Higher Education for 21+" (2021-1-CZ01-KA220-HED-000031122), which has been funded with support from the European Commission.“

To justify the creation of e-learning platform, we have chosen the following graphs from more extensive research in three countries (Czech Republic – Poland – Slovakia) and at three project collaborating universities (UHK Hradec Králové – AMU Poznań – CPU Nitra).

In the previous part of the project Enhancing Quality Teaching of Humanities and Social Sciences in Higher Education for 21+ a methodological guide for university educators in the field of humanities, who primarily use traditional teaching methods such as lecture in the form of an exposition without the involvement of other activities and seminars, in which the student frontally presents presentations or reads a report, was prepared.

The aim of both the printed methodological guide and the learning activities is to present to educators who are able and willing to self-reflection, to present basic teaching methods that make teaching at the university accessible and attractive to students. The basic methods are briefly and clearly presented first theoretically in the introductory part of e learning here below. Then follow specific demonstrations of lessons that university teachers can test in their teaching, or prepare their own lessons according to their model. Example lessons (Activities) are designed for 90 minutes and each is accompanied by a methodology with a precise timetable and progress of work.
